Over the years I have become a bit of a coffee snob, not that I am an expert, but I do know what I like! Even before we took over as the new innkeepers of Inn at Stockbridge from Len and Alice, we were thinking about coffee. How could we consistently deliver a great cup of coffee to our guests? Here at the Inn we were beside ourselves to receive our new, state of the art, Fetco brewing system. Our friends at Barrington Coffee Roasting Company guided us through the decision making process and we now brew their superlative coffee directly into an air pot, preserving the quality of the coffee right to our guests' cups. Right now we are brewing their Italian Roast, which I love for its dark rich flavor. We will probably work our way through the rest of their selection over time, but right now I think we will sit back and smell the coffee!
As much as I am a coffee snob, I am a bacon lover! Before we moved up from Florida, I was shopping at the Spice and Tea Exchange in Sarasota, and picked up some green chili-flavored sugar. The shopkeeper remarked that he hadn’t found a great use for it yet, and I immediately said “Bacon!” His response? “Whose little girl are you?”
Climbing Tree Farm in New Lebanon, NY. Both received raves, and with a full inn last weekend we went through four pounds of bacon on Saturday morning (holding some aside for family breakfast, of course)! I have never been an ardent sausage fan, but I was won over by Jazu’s hand made patties. Based on the guest responses, we are ramping up the program so that we always have some of this great stuff on hand! I am learning a lot about pigs, more than I ever thought I would want to, and I am eager to visit the farm and understand even more. One thing I can say for sure, is the bacon and sausage hand made from pigs that are carefully raised and slaughtered is the best I have ever tasted. And I feel good about it, to boot! There is a lot more information about this on their website, if you have an interest.
We are learning fast this summer, and we have come a long way in a short period of time. The Berkshires provide great inspiration, and the people we have been blessed to meet and work with so far are additionally inspiring in their passion about what they do. We look forward to your visit!
